Dr Stephan Jansen van Vuuren completed his MBChB at the University of Pretoria in 2001 with distinction in Surgery. He did his Internship at King Edward VIII Hospital in Durban and Community Service at Ngwelezana Hospital in Empangeni (KZN) spending the whole year in General Surgery. After working in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cape Town (Groote Schuur and Red Cross Hospitals) for 2 years he started his Urology training in 2006 at Tygerberg Hospital. He completed his FC Urol (CMSA) in 2009 and MMed Urology (Stellenbosch) 2010.

He started his private practice during January 2010 at Melomed Bellville Hospital, Cape Town and also worked at Netcare Kuilsriver and Durbanville Mediclinic during the following 10 years. He relocated to Port Elizabeth in October 2018 and took over the practice of Dr Jan Enslin at Life St Georges Hospital.

He completed his training as a Da Vinci Robotic Console Surgeon in July 2016. He currently performs robotic surgeries on the Da Vinci Xi platform. He also completed the Laparoscopic Urological Surgery Intensive course at the IRCAD Training Centre in Strasbourg, France in June 2018. He has extensive experience in Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgery as well as Laser Enucleation of the Prostate with both Thulium and Holmium laser systems.
